is it socialism or post-scarcity? most people who say star trek is socialist are wrong...its post-scarcity (and only within the core of the federation). they are indistinguishable in many ways...

Wherever commodities are being traded in negotiated deals, rather than being given away on request or on command, that's clearly not socialism. The nature of scarcity also changes from survival to satisfying ambitions, but never truly disappears.
