Thoughts on compulsory national service for 1-2 years directly out of high school? Has (at least) 3 benefits: 1. Helps get things done for the country. 2. Builds a sense of national unity. 3. Gives young adults time to mature before college. I'm still thinking it through...
Compulsory national service would be a form of gov't enforced involuntary servitude. Not a fan. Optional though? Good idea.

Technically so is jury duty. It violates the 13th amendment (and the 5th amendment), and the b.s. about it being our "duty" to perform it doesn't fly.
