What kind of AI research?
Any that could lead to a self-catalyzing superintelligence 'take off' process. Or that puts AI in charge of crucial civilizational infrastructure, or nukes.

Yeah...I think what Geoffrey is imagining is the same "zero risk" standard that has cost the world billions of dollars and millions of lives because of superstition about GMOs. I'm still...never.
