I'm pronatalist, but all this doom-mongering assumes that we won't make any real progress on regenerative medicine and longevity treatments. Aging, senescence, and death are not inevitable, and anyone who says they are implicitly wants you to die sooner rather than later.

" Aging, senescence, and death are not inevitable." Best news I've heard so far this week.

I’m pro nataliat as well, but evolution will fix this in a few generations unless we go berserk and start importing people. It’s like how people espouse market-pricing but only when prices are rising. The market can handle falling prices, too.

First, capitalism cannot survive the population boom. Now, capitalism cannot survive the population bust? I think there's some power hungry elitists somewhere making stuff up. Again.

Agreed, but people's desire to work beyond 70 is limited. That seems to be a problem with the top-heavy population graphs to me.

If everybody buys into the posthuman live-for-ever dream, but it doesn't really happen for a thousand years, that's many generations of resentment, right? People would get much more depressed, I'd think.

You know, I don't know whether if I'll keel over instantly of some weirdness at 63, or keep going until all that's left of me is a tarp stretched over some bones. Given my family and lifestyle, it could be either.
