If college educated people get married after age 25, their likelihood of divorce is, IIRC, less than 20%. The 50% figure is outdated, and mostly driven by bad early marriages.
I'm going to guess it's more than 20% if one of the spouses is an attorney.
Also I believe it is 50% of marriages not people.
Which still makes universal hetero marriage a poor basis for public policy. (Yes that does imply straight bros should marry each other sexlessly for economic benefits.)

Wasn’t the 50% figure always bad? Wasn’t it essentially the same as saying 100,000 people were born this year and 50,000 died therefore about 50% of lives end in death.

I've always been skeptical of the 50% divorce rate. Are they counting people that divorce & remarry several times? Vegas weddings? Shotgun weddings?
