Academics, what do you do when reviewers ask you to expand the scope of your article? I want my article to have the scope that I have set but two reviewers think I should use my data to answer other research questions.

Geoff just committed a fallacy though: your wants/desires are only a subset of the set of your obligations. Thus, there are obligations that you don't want to fulfill, but still must in order to avoid invalidation through Darwinian selection pressure.
