When I taught undergrads, I gave extensive writing critique. Extensive. Some students revealed to me how shocked they were—they had never before been critiqued. working to make class sizes smaller in public schools would be a helpful step in solving this issue. it’s not realistic that teachers with 30-40 students in each of their classes will be able to provide substantial feedback for all of students, having 6-7 classes that size

The only thing I can remember about wrting class/english from 6th grade on was Intro-body-conclusion. As long as I had that, I would get an A, even if my grammar was horrific. Thanks for the lazy education.

In Sophomore year I was sent to the Writing Lab by my Sociology professor. My spirit and confidence crushed, I came out the other end knowing how to write. I hated him at the moment. Now he is likely one of the most influential instructors I had. Ever.
