My (now husband) and I broke up for a bit ~6 years ago. We both went on OkCupid and were promptly matched as the highest rated match for each other in the DC metro area. The algorithm is strong.

My experiences with OkCupid have been weird though. Granted I haven't been on it for several years, but when I was it seemed like it was almost compulsory to be kinky and looking for something open or NSA. Not necessarily a problem, but it meant a lot of unicorn hunter types.

Good point. Traditional sites might still offer a better quality framework, whilst the appeal of tinder etc is user friendly interface. I switched to it at one point because I was on the move - literally - all the time, but then stuck with it purely because it was easy to use.
