Well maintained NPS parks are a far better use of that 2.5M. They also inspire awe, gratitude & pride in national belonging, civic virtue, healthy collectivism/patriotism and stewardship, for millions of families. And they last a lot longer than things that go boom.
NPS is also a worthy cause. Endless wars in the middle east are not.
