Well maintained NPS parks are a far better use of that 2.5M. They also inspire awe, gratitude & pride in national belonging, civic virtue, healthy collectivism/patriotism and stewardship, for millions of families. And they last a lot longer than things that go boom.
Kids are Americans too. Tanks and flyovers are exciting to kids. Patriotic holidays are, in part, exciting, nostalgic, memorable experiences that parents organize for their offspring. Took kids to see aircraft carrier. Big fun. The sailers/marines = awesome during the tour. Military sacrifices a lot. They love it when citizens say thank you. Freedom was purchased with real blood. Honoring military for my freedom is not pro-war. It’s gratitude.
