Interesting conversation, Geoffrey, thanks. The blurring of the line and assumption that fascism is hidden and revealed by discourses or supporting or spreading various discourses is at least partly due to the postmodern worldview that has infected us all, especially on the left.

@jmrphy had a great explanation of antifa dynamics and its appeal, but he made too many excuses for them imo. We should be charitable to people's claims, but their actions are what really count. And the idea that antifa was once good but only became bad after Trump is weak... -
...they're an unaccountable, self-appointed police force. Pushing back against the idea of evil overlords is good, but that doesn't mean there aren't malicious individuals who happily take up an ideology readymade for violence.
