Part of avoiding identity politics is avoiding the garbage on both sides. Yang does not need to comment and sink to that level. Nothing about what happened will unify the country.

I think this is a bigger cultural moment than people realize. There is a real dividing line of opinion on what is acceptable violence in society. This is ugly.
