It would work well for him. Not only would it be the morally right thing to do, it would also curry favour with the conservatives on the fence. Yang has more appeal to the right than most, from what I have seen. Some at least seem to respect him. I hope he calls this bullshit out

Exactly. The centre, reasonable left, and reasonable right (i.e. most people) do not currently have any political candidates representing their views, and are ripe for the taking.
