Exactly this. When Trump was elected in 2016 Antifa protested in Portland and some other cities, rooting and setting fires, smashing windows. Violent people will join in the crowd because they are masked, it gives incentives to destroy and harm people and their property.

The resentment they built as individuals gets validated and further fuelled within the group. I knew someone who was antifa and just wanted to get into fights with Nazi skinheads. But it wasn’t really them he was angry at. The anger and rage was coming from within. It was deep.
