Nuclear war: the greatest threat to US & world. Foreign policy establishment, politicians, & MIC amp up tensions btwn US & nuclear countries like Russia/China. I’ll take the trillions wasted on this new cold war & regime change wars & invest in YOUR needs http://tulsi.to/the-debates pic.twitter.com/2cGHCv2GJP

Yes, but it has been argued that nuclear weapons have helped preserve peace in the world. If they didn't exist, there might very well be frequent wars using conventional weapons, which themselves have become frighteningly destructive.
-
I know that's the standard argument, but I don't buy it. It just leads to idiotic proxy wars that create their own sources of instability, with even more nuclear X risks in the long run.

PS people who don't think nuclear war is a real risk need to read 'The Doomsday Machine' by
@DanielEllsberg. We've come close to nuclear exchanges many times, and we've often threatened first strikes. It's insane. -
Russia has a first strike policy. The US does not.https://medium.com/war-is-boring/this-is-how-the-world-could-have-ended-1ecd1db17ff2 …

I agree, it's pointless worrying. However, I also believe that will be how it ends - maybe it's millennia down the line but we'll inevitably create our own extinction event. Human beings are too predisposed to conflict, be it over relationships, identity, territory or resources.

She’s good on foreign policy, but then talks very broadly about using “our” money to do X. That’s violence domestically and leads toward the socialist hellhole
