What if we discover in hindsight that the single best predictor of future thriving for children, is directly correlated to time and attention from loving , motivated parent(s) and immediate family? And if true, what implications does that have for our current system?

As a system? No. Some individual teachers? Yes.

The main variable unaccounted for in the question is the very large and capital based variance in the public school experience in this country.

I think my kids have a decent school experience, though it has been 100% in quite good private schools. Not automatically fitting in is called being a human, and that sort of socialization seems desirable, not a problem to me.

Like polyamory, homeschooling works for some, sometimes.

If you really dug in to public school adminstration your head would explode. So much directed evil. It is NOT the teachers. Not most of them....seen a few socially that were obvious progressive zealots, bit I have never been to their classrooms and they are music teachers.
