Thank you for posting an interesting talk! A thought on virtue signals that flies in the face of some out-group (e.g. wearing a MAGA hat in SF, or kneeling during the anthem): Isn't it an effective way of making yourself a "martyr"? I.e. a credible, high cost signal?
Such a signal might annoy a lot of people, but your intended audience will be all the more convinced of your virtues.
