The number of people living with an unmarried partner is substantially increased though. A lot of marriages that would have happened in the past aren’t occurring. Nobody is counting how many of those couples break up.
It never was the case. It was skewed by serial divorced. If most people don’t divorce but some divorse 4-5 times then your average is skewed.

Why is this happening now at a time when younger gens are having less sex, experimenting less with drugs, staying at home later, and also more anxious and depressed? Any linkage between these things, or just coincidental? WSJ article behind paywall.
