Extrapolate this to the future. Admissions committees will use automated AI analysis of every applicant's entire social media history from birth onwards, searching for wrongthink. Ambitious students will be forced to pre-emptively conform to the Correct Views throughout life.
PS telling teens 'just stay off social media then' is like saying 'just don't have any friends, status, or mates'.

Meanwhile we have to tell teens to refrain from publicly expressing any beliefs they might be working out for fear of future unacceptability. "The people you'll need to impress are not very rational so best to start lying about who you are now." Teens are cynics without this.

Not sure of this. It is commonplace for people to have anon accounts followed by their friends and group irl that isn’t linked to their real identity, aka if you saw their prof you wouldn’t be able to know who it was. This way they have social media but not ID’d
