If you define sociology as "unearthing inequalities in areas that are considered to be functioning healthily" (as prof. Friedman did), you have a left-wing premise at the core of your discipline.

The degree to which political orientation of the researchers determines social science reseqrch and results is something I find too many people are in denial about. They often demonize and avoid inquiry if a question could yield unwanted results. Or they manipulate statistics.
