I did not look at the paper, but cited blog confuses "regularly cycling women" with "ovulating women". I wish evol. psychologists read papers on ovarian function (yes, knowledge about cycle should not come from a textbook) by P. Ellison and other reprod. ecologists.

I believe they confirmed ovulation timing with LH surge measures from saliva samples. What exactly is your critique here?

We did not do LH tests (in this study). But we also didn't say ovulating women, we used "naturally cycling women". "Natural": unfortunate connotation of regularly cycling being the natural thing (as opposed to breastfeeding/pregnancy). "Regularly": HC users cycle regularly too >

"women not using HC": unwieldy and would include postmenopausal/breastfeeding/pregnancy. So, I might stay with "naturally cycling" and explain in text. Happy to change my view though!

Odd that women’s preference for their partner on the pill remains constant, but preference on the pill for other potential partners changes

Makes me think one of the lines is misreported
