When you're in a peer group it's good-natured teasing, because it's personal - the peer group cares about you. When you're an influencer building a brand, the dynamic's different as the familiarity and intimacy isn't there, so it just looks like you're mocking your audience.

I wonder how many RP men reading that thread feel as if they were well-intentionally ribbed by a buddy who genuinely cares about them, and is satirising them to prove a point because he wants to see them improve, rather than seeing an ass condescend them for their struggles.
