The libertarian galaxy brain take is that it wasn't even justifiable to apply the common carrier standard to AT&T. AT&T literally invented the telephone and built the grid, the equivalent of if YouTube had also invented the Internet and laid the cable for it.

This is the whole point of the Net Neutrality issue, which conservatives like French largely just ignored. It was claimed that ISPs could technically get away with banning users and websites for their political views without it. It's true.

That was just one reason given for it, but the general principle is that ISPs, because of their size and control of a critical market, should be treated as utilities. Social media has come to be similarly important — these same people acknowledge it with Russia,misinformation,etc

I don't get how the free market at all cost people can't see there has to be limits. Stock market has rules for fair play people are just asking for fairness in application of rules.
