College is too expensive, forcing many to take out student loans that will saddle them with debt throughout their lives. I would forgive much of this debt and work with schools to reduce tuition. We can do much better for our young people.pic.twitter.com/D8I3l5P6vT

If higher education didn't exist, and we had to design it rationally from scratch, it would look nothing like it does today.

Fact. Students would be students, not customers.

I won’t try to speak for Miller, but judging from other views he’s espoused, I’m going to guess that he’s actually advocating a paradigm shift in education *opposite to* the sort of paradigm shift you think he’s hinting at.

It would almost exclusively be online... The best teachers would be rockstars that millions of people knew from their classes, and the whole thing would cost less than 10% of what it does now. Med school, and sciences heavy on lab work, would likely go up in price unfortunately.

I wonder what it would be that, had it not existed so we had to design it rationally from scratch, are the most similar to what we already have today?

...is it the education or the credential that is too expensive? I would say one is less expensive than it has ever been in the history of the human race.

Yes, we could use intelligence testing for employment qualification like we did before Griggs. A college education is proper for for some, not an extended period of adolescence for all.
