No it’s better to circulate research in a closed system, keeping it impenetrable and obtuse rather than sharing it with people who can make a difference with it.

Sometimes reaching a few DOZEN students a year is more important than teaching a few hundred, or reaching tens of thousands who may not be impressed. Sometimes its about a concentrated delivered message and not gross numbers.

It would be great if the internet could be an alternate career for academics. What if they could live off of an academic streaming platform, do speaking events, and have crowdfunded research instead of relying on grants and journals to be published.
