I was surprised that for many of the talks I saw at HBES this year that a strong genetic influence was a source of surprise in many of the results rather than an assumption from the start.
Ironically, the biggest empirical failing of evolutionary psychology is that it often overestimates the influence of shared family environment on behavioral traits -- an influence that behavior genetics studies show is usually zero. #NEEPS2019
