On (my) belief in God:http://j.mp/2EKpzjV

1/ “Freedom of religion means...” Yes, agreed. Public figures have to make the difficult choice to engage the “belief in God” question. It doesn’t backfire on one’s intelligence to admit they have a belief or a lack of belief in God. If there is some middle ground, explain.
-
2/ But for someone who has spent more than the average human being’s time thinking about such things, it doesn’t look good when you flounder about such as in the

Why is it OK to keep one’s religious views private but not their political views (especially those which do not influence public policy)?
-
I’m curious to know the answer to this. I sometimes hear elders say that even politics is private. That seems to be changing increasingly though. Especially for an influential public figure, Ive never heard someone say that they’re keeping a view private

Then he should never speak about God if he can not truly say he is a Christian .

Disagree. Not answering the question 100 times in a row has nothing to do with "authenticity". It's not so much about freedom or rights as it is exactly about authenticity which suffers more with every evasion, although past a certain point it makes no difference anymore.

For u , but possibly not for others who struggle as well with having to express a yes or no answer for deep issues and concepts. He is on his journey. Let him find his way.

Agree. I believe JBP is genuine in his explanation and he’s smart to phrase it the way he did. It’s not just belief, it’s acting it out. Embody the ideal. Also, the sad reality is that publicly disclosing Christian faith causes many to turn hostile toward you.

Is it always that deep though? isn’t it interesting to know if someone believes that there’s a creator of the universe or not? some people when they ask that question aren’t looking to paint someone with a brush just my opinion though.

I remember when the NYT's outed then recently deceased Sally Ride. It was apparently just too important for gay kids to have astronaut role models. Things personal are/should be a personal choice. The problem is the left demands it be private so Jordan equivocating is problematic
