While it is wise to be aware of common forms of dysfunction on the dating/marriage scene, any ideology which promotes a fundamentally adversarial view of gender relations is insane. As the great philosopher, Rodney King once said, "We all got to get along!"

And the liberalized dating market permits and even encourages this. It's a collection of winners and losers, haves and have nots, and just like in the economic markets it's guys who grew up in poverty but got their hands on tools for advancement who are most ruthless, aggressive.
