You'd think, with hundreds of scientists all getting together, they'd come up with a way for the name badges to face forward all the time. Or do they need to ask an engineer?
The only constant across science conferences is that, if your name tag is on a lanyard, it will swivel around to face towards you at least 2/3 of the time.

Yes, that's an engineering challenge, not a scientific one. This engineer's solution: Clip badges on. Yes, I know this is an issue for some womens' clothing, because of the tyranny of the fashion industry against pockets. The other solution is two-sided badges.
