I just know some things about psychology and early childhood development.I'm a psych prof (and parent), and IMHO studying some psychology is no substitute for the experience of being a parent.

You have to admit it does help to know a little something about child and personality development.Wish I had majored in psychology when I started raising children. Moreover, it takes maturity to appreciate the importance of good parenting.
This sounds ‘SJW-ish.’ A different (better?) way of ‘knowing’ through ‘lived experience’ rather than through education or the scientific method. Often ‘lived experience’ is seen as not satisfactory enough to produce reliable data. Why is it ok in this context?
IMHO studying anything does not compete with actually practicing it
