I've listened to Benatar (David not Pat) explain anti-natalism on a few occasions, most notably with @SamHarrisOrg and @jordanbpeterson. I find him wholly unconvincing and always come away thinking his relationships with other humans are either too restricted or somehow impaired.

Axioms are not necessarily false. (I grant that what he says boils down to "If everyone were me they'd be better off childless, because I feel life sucks on balance, and there are good reasons to believe my kids would, too.")

Is there good research on genetic inheritance of low hedonic set-point (assuming there's such a thing as the latter, by that or another name)?
