Who's been in a successful, long-distance relationship, and what advice do you have?
Been in a 5-year, 5,000-mile long-distance relationship. Advice: Whatsapp, Skype, and get used to a lot of flying.

Did long-distance for over 2 years with my now-wife (with her in Denmark, me in US). I'd echo Geoffrey, and would add that it was important for us to do "activities" together, e.g., watching a Netflix movie together, synced up, while we were on Skype, treating it like a date.
