I don't see why mutual mate selection would influence brain volume any more than one-sided (male) mate selection. Theories for your theory?
My book 'The mating mind' explains the reasoning. If one-sided selection favored brain size & intelligence, only one sex would evolve larger brain size & higher intelligence.

Makes sense. And perhaps mutual problem solving for child rearing is a more powerful brain stimulant than dominated/dominator problem solving?
