Allow people not get vaccinated, but require they buy insurance for the case where they cause great harm. Let the markets price the cost of this choice. Call it a day. You’ll find people who are perfectly happy free riding are less happy to payout true cost of their choice.

The problem libertarians have is failing to reframe these issues in market terms. Once you do, they can often be reconciled, but you’ve got to start with the premise that freedom doesn’t mean you can have anything you want. You gotta price the externalities.

If healthcare ethics is to continue, how could we ever force people to have something that posed a risk, no matter how rare/small that risk is? Parental consent (as a real concept) no longer exists anyway, but to force people to have medical procedures is very unsettling.
