Activism isn't necessarily antithetical to the pursuit of truth. The conflict only arises when the pursuit of truth is superseded by other goals. Before we become activists for *any* cause, we must first and foremost—without exception—become activists for the truth.

The key is that believing only what is supported by the evidence is built into the movement's DNA. While identity-based reasoning often makes people stupid and believe false things, when your identity involves truth-seeking, such reasoning can serve you very well.
