It's hard to do 'casual dating' in an open, ethical, & accountable way. That's why polyamory can be a better option for many young people -- a better middle ground between male & female mating strategies. Then folks can go monogamous later if they want exclusivity.

Every polyamory relationship I’ve witnessed has always ended the same way. Every so called monogamous relationship I’ve witnessed end has always had a different ending. Consistently in poly relationships the rules are so muddled that inevitably someone gets hurt.

Conjecture: Most people are ok with casual hookups with little to no emotional investment, and ok with strict monogamy, but not ok with anything in between. Possibly because it is believed heartbreak is less likely to occur at the ends than in the middle.
