About this Noah Carl thing: Where are the guardians of academic standards when it comes to the vast quantities of bullshit coming from the political left? How many lefties are fired/un-hired for failing to maintain high standards of rigor?
I've served on university committees evaluating researchers from humanities & softer social sciences departments. The incredible thing is not just how bad the ideas, scholarship, research, & writing are, but how little of it is required to get tenure.

Imagine these people being so concerned about rigor that they would agitate to ruin the career of a young, left-wing activist in a different field for being too sloppy. That would only happen on a very, very distant possible world.
