Using an F-35 for CAS is like using a u-boat as artillery

That article is 2 years old. My understanding is that the F-35 has performed extremely well in recent combat exercises.

F-35 is the definition of sunk cost

The problem with the F-35 was the longer something is under development the more bells and whistles the Pentagon morons will add to it. These men aren't really stupid, they are just trying to justify their careers. Look at the development of the M-3 Bradley, same thing happened.

It’s the Swiss Army airplane, if Victorinox were tasked with making a knife that had a chainsaw and scalpel blades.

No aircraft should take longer than 10 years at the most to develop, and most a lot less. Good multi-role aircraft are designed for one task and as you gain experience with the aircraft you learn what additional roles the air frame can handle, like the AC-130 gunship.

And the UK’s shambles of a government are still waiting for our crippled version of it for our currently jet-less aircraft carriers because we sold all our sea-harriers to the US. Bloody shameful.
