What’s the advantage to signaling impulsivity? Tattoos and piercings seem to signal it, at some cost, but it’s hard to see a huge advantage unless it is simply tribal affiliation.
I always assumed tattoos signaled Openness to Experience, and, increasingly, Leftist politics.
