We have similar issues in the UK regarding religious freedom - protected in the Act a vs freedom of sexuality - protected in the Act. Naturally, not all religious belief aligns with sexuality, and so both as simultaneously discriminatory when confronting the other.

In the piece Angelo mentions that when the gay marriage act was passed that ppl were concerned that it would open the door to other (such as polyamorous) marriages and protections. There are even further issues here that affect inheritance and personal property issues.

Except polyamory isn't an orientation. Arguably it is a philosophy as it can be equally applied to any sexuality or gender identity.

How do you define an orientation?

There is no argument for gay marriage that can't be applied polygamist or incestuous marriages. The latter are far more common in human history and other cultures today. The opposition to them comes from the same "Judeo-Christian values" as opposition to gay marriage.

I still think bans against those things are okay, but at least I admit the hypocrisy and logical inconsistency. I don't consider people who oppose any of them, including gay marriage, bigots. The government should get out of marriage together, speaking as a gay Libertarian.
