Actual psychology: personality comes mostly from genes plus noise. Psych-adjacent fields (life coaching, self-help, New Age therapies): personality comes from unresolved childhood trauma & maladaptive parenting. The persistence of Freudianism never ceases to astound me.

Didn't they discover an increase in the size of the amygdala (correspondingly an increase in the personality trait neuroticism) as a result of childhood trauma/PTSD? Therefore, as an example, childhood abuse leads to personality trait change, or am I missing something?
