Goodness knows we should be concerned... if I weren't worried about AI, I wouldn't write for The Technoskeptic. Hoping Alphabet gets shit together and realize AI ethics are VITAL. But what about China and Russia, where AI ethics aren't a serious consideration?

I'm terrified of a US/China AI arms race. And yet, in many ways, China's centralized political system seems better prepared to do effective AI governance than American democracy could.

Agreed. China seems to reflexively have a long outlook, which will hopefully be a restraint. But Russia has intellectual horsepower AND a pattern of doing anything that will fuck the West. It is a pernicious nest of gov-enabled cyber-crime. What happens when they have AI?
