Police are searching for some stupid bitch at Coachella after she threw a bunch of newborn puppies in the garbage. Wow this made me mad.pic.twitter.com/L3GJWIUNtO

That seems like a variation of the fallacy of relative privation.

Maybe. I'm just pointing out that people have radically inconsistent attitudes towards animal welfare issues, and are not scope-sensitive to the relative scales of their issues. In other words, maybe it's not a fallacy if you take relative scale of suffering into account.

On field work in Bulgaria I once ‘rescued’ a plastic bag of newborn kittens which were hanging in a tree and gave them to the family we were staying with. Never saw them again. Sad but real for a young twenty-something.

More angry, as people would have gladly taken and loved the puppies and the chicks end may come quickly as opposed to a slow painful death to which she consigned the puppies. She was lazy and cruel.
