In context: If, say, 20% of women in the UK went on a 2-5 year birth-strike to put pressure on the govt. to take more drastic measures against climate change, and then let's say those in power listen. Would this realistically lead to a world of no eco-concerned people?
Why would the gov't care about a transient minor drop in birth rate? Saves them on health care and school costs.

That’s what the do when they transition. The hormone treatments make the sterile. That seems a cool thing to do these days. That shows that reproduction might not be a modern-day concern.

If a minor drop in birth rates can make enough of a dent in healthcare and education costs to matter then it seems possible it could make a significant enough dent in consumer sales and tax revenues to matter.
