What would a 12th century person use as a roof if they had our tech? Would they have used glass? I like history but not historian.

It will ruin the gothic architecture. Gothic stands for darkness a certain with a glass roof there will be so much light in the church it won't feel gothic. There is futuristic gothic and you can play with the contrast of dark and light but just a glass roof alone does not work.

This. I don't have any fundamental problem with adding a contemporary note to the reconstruction, many great buildings are patchworks of different styles and eras, but please put some thought and consideration into it and don't just slap glass and concrete on it.

1. No competition needed. Rebuild it exactly as it was before (but with updated safety, etc.) 2. Establish a police perimeter for the duration of the project to keep modern architects and vapid pseudo-intellectuals away...

Secularism has sought transcendence by transposing transcendent categories into the future - historical and substituted heaven with an anticipated utopian future toward which the "right side of history" designates the "true" path. 1/3https://twitter.com/pseudoplotinus/status/1119629617877307392?s=21 …
