Mixed feelings about covert recording of professors. I say some edgy stuff in my human sexuality class that partisans on both sides would find offensive. Do we want to impose a chilling effect on classroom teaching from fear of comments going viral?

Private isn’t public. Especially if your institution receives government funds, I want to know what you are indoctrinating students with. In a private system you can expel or fine anyone recording, just like in a cinema.

I sympathize with this concern. I really do. But most public universities don't defend free speech, don't promote viewpoint diversity, and don't protect professors who say anything outside the Overton window.

This is exactly why I advocated for the last two years for POTUS to issue the executive order to defund any public universities that don't fully comply with the First Amendment.... Glad he did it finally, and hope it works!
