Professors shouldn't base the nature or substance of their lectures on whether or not they have tenure. They're there to educate, first and foremost. If there are elements of a lecture that the administration wouldn't approve of, they should address that outside of the classroom.
I've tried for years to do that. Admin is generally not responsive, e.g. they do not support the First Amendment. So we either self-censor, or we take the risk of professing what we really believe.

I can certainly appreciate your position. I'll concede that it can be a tricky act to balance. But, generally speaking, I have to err on the side of transparency. Especially when an institution accepts public funds, this is not private therapy.

The deal would have to be: profs are willing to be recorded _if_ citizens are willing to stand up for free speech and viewpoint diversity on campuses. At the moment, citizens aren't upholding their end of this bargain.
