Julian Assange’s arrest should remind us that Donald Trump is exactly the kind of person who would praise an organization — WikiLeaks — that placed American and allied lives in mortal danger simply because it helped embarrass Hillary for a news cycle or two.

No. But Snowden's leaks went far beyond that. We should acknowledge both that his leaks had some positive and some negative results.

Unpopular take: Snowden could have quietly gotten a good whistleblower lawyer, gone to a friendly Congressperson, and if that didn’t work gone to 60 Minutes or the NYT like everybody else. I think he has an “International Man of Mystery” complex.
