Or to at least have a more interesting journey towards death than animals. We're not trying to out-compete animals in evolutionary terms, we just want to have a better time, and maybe discover new ways of living along the way.

Seems evolution may select for the behaviors that make us "better than animals."

I think that humans are by nature better than the (other) animals. They have language, reason, and free will, for example. Civilization provides norms for a group of humans to be able to live together in comparative harmony.

But many humans think that being “better” is the same as having permission eclipse other species.

“Some animals are more equal than others” Sorry, couldn’t resist!

We can KILL better than all the other animals. What more do you want?
