On the Sunday Special with @BenShapiro I made the point that Christians should not cite the Bible when arguing about cultural issues with people who don't believe in the Bible. I've sustained a fair amount of criticism for this point, which I thought was rather obvious.

I honestly mean this respectfully. But the god-designed evolution concept seems like a fallback position taken after creationism was (some believe) countered by evidence of evolution

"God did it" doesn't specify how. Even the Biblical account of creation of life on earth indicates a passage of time to accomplish it, not an "I Dream of Jeannie" nose-twitch & blink. There's plenty of reason to believe creation "day" is metaphorical.

If anyone would be curious to read an intelligent Christian biologist who argues (persuasively, in my opinion) along these lines, I would strongly recommend Denis Alexander's "Is There Purpose in Biology?"
